50 Year Celebration - Helen Downer Kindergarten

On June the 10th 1961 Helen Downer received an OBE for her work in the Kindergarten movement this prestigious award still hangs on the wall in the kindergarten. 50 years later (to the day) in honour of this important event the children of Helen Downer Kindergarten received an award in the form of a book of their own sponsored by the Duffy Books in Homes programme. The staff organised a fun day for children and their families / whanau / fanau / pamilya by way of a storybook character dress up day with a special prize for the best dressed child/children or family. Ex pupils of Helen Downer kindergarten came and read stories to the children. Presentation of Duffy books was made to children by some very special characters Snow White, Sponge Bob, Princess Fiona and The Wicked Step Mother/Queen. A great time was had by all. |
