Mission Statement
To provide the highest quality early childhood education service for young children in the Central North Island that is accessible and affordable.
Philosophy Statement
The principles and strands of the early childhood education curriculum, Te Whariki: He Whariki Matauranga ma nga Mokopuna o Aotearoa provides the foundation for our kindergarten programmes. The Central North Island Kindergarten Association believes that quality learning opportunities for children are best achieved where:
- Kindergarten teaching staff have the minimum qualification, Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood Education).
- The foundation for children’s learning is play based in a resource rich environment.
- Children's preferences are respected so they are involved in decisions about their learning.
- Programmes are based on socio cultural practice which includes the children, teachers, parents, and community perspectives.
- Children are encouraged to be confident in their own culture and develop respect and understanding of other cultures.
- The dual heritage of Aotearoa, New Zealand, and respect for Te Tiriti o Waitangi, are reflected in our kindergartens.
- The outdoor environment is valued and children have access at all times to quality outdoor play experiences.
